David Marco

David Marco advises boards and C-suite leaders on Decision Intelligence, helping them make better business decisions by aligning AI, trusted information, governance and executive accountability.

As President and Executive Advisor of EWSolutions, Mr. Marco works with CEOs, CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, CAIOs, executive teams and boards when AI, data and technology initiatives become too important to govern informally. He helps leaders align accountability and decision rights, ensure the information behind key decisions can be trusted, and make decisions that deliver business value and withstand scrutiny.

For nearly three decades, Mr. Marco has worked at the intersection of enterprise data and executive accountability. His experience spans the operating foundations that support enterprise decisions, including data governance, metadata, data quality, enterprise architecture, analytics and modernization, as well as the leadership structures that govern those decisions, including organizational design, decision rights, executive mandates, risk ownership and board oversight. This combination allows him to translate technical and data complexity into business consequences, executive accountability and decision quality.

His career includes advisory and consulting work with complex global enterprises and public-sector organizations such as BP, Hewlett-Packard, Ford Motor Company, Microsoft, Mayo Clinic, UnitedHealth Group, Target, the FBI, FEMA, the U.S. Department of Defense and the United Nations. His work has spanned highly regulated environments, major modernization initiatives, enterprise governance programs and situations where the quality of data and decision-making carried significant operational, financial or organizational consequences.

Mr. Marco established his authority in enterprise data management long before the current AI era. In 2004, Crain's Chicago Business selected him for its 40 Under 40 and referred to him as the "Melvil Dewey of Metadata."

He authored Building and Managing the Meta Data Repository and coauthored Universal Meta Data Models, both published by Wiley.

Today, he applies that foundation to Decision Intelligence, focusing on how organizations make high-consequence decisions in an environment increasingly shaped by AI. Mr. Marco is currently writing his next book with Forbes Books, focused on Decision Intelligence in the AI era and the operating disciplines required to make AI-influenced decisions accountable and defensible.

His advisory philosophy is straightforward: Better technology does not guarantee better business outcomes. Business value comes from better decisions grounded in evidence, trusted information and clear accountability.
